The Sims 4 "Cats and Dogs" EP Review

Part one

Hello Sims Fans;
Ok, so the new Sims 4 expansion pack has been out for a while, and we decided it was more than time we made a review.
First of all, and as you've probably already figured out, we are going to do this in two separate parts: Vet clinics and taking care of a pet/pets.
This post is going to be about vets.

OK now... how do I become a vet?

So, besides the ability to have those wet mouth-breathing little beings one can call cats and dogs, the expansion pack also comes with the option of owning a veterinary clinic and becoming a vet! (pretty neat hum?)
Your sims won't really need to have the vet ability all boosted up to be good vets, actually, its only use is basically to make some liquids you don't need to calm pets down and treat them. Just build yourselves a nicely decorated (sims do appreciate the decoration) one-room clinic with an exam table, a vet podium and a trash can and you shall be good to go. To buy an existing clinic you only need to go to your sim's phone, click that icon with a tiny house, and select "buy a vet clinic". Then select one from the map (there's only one clinic built-in the expansion pack. Its concept is quite interesting but it's also pretty expensive (enough to buy a luxury apartment) so we recommend you build a cheaper one or download one that you like from the gallery).
After that, you're all set! Open your clinic and enjoy the nonstop stream of demanding clients with their spoiled little dogs (and cats).

I've got my clinic open, now what do I do?

Well, there are plenty of things you can do (not really). The main thing you do at a clinic is, obviously, treating your furry patients. You can (and should) perform examinations on the pets in order to figure out what's wrong with them and treat them (like in the doctor career). The only annoying part is when the animals get nervous, and you have to calm them down, which takes forever. Then, the owners of the pets will pay you and rate your service, which gives you handy feedback on what you do well and what you should improve, although it always shows 2 things with room for improvement and one thing excellent about the clinic, so you wouldn't know if your doing everything really badly or really well, it just gives you relative ratings. I would find it more useful if it was a number based system (for example a scale of one to ten). Each owner also rates you with stars (one to five), but the number of stars of your clinic isn't the average of the reviews, you always start with only one star and even if you only get five-star reviews, it will first slowly go through 1,5; 2; 2,5 stars until it gets to five (which is kind of more lifelike because you need time to gain prestige). The more stars you have, the more patients (and money) you get!

Can I be a vet full-time?

Yes, you can, but we recommend having a job until your clinic has enough stars and vets (it is useful if your sim lives with more people so you can see more patients at a time without hiring anyone). The best thing to do if you want to have a vet clinic is to have one of the work from home careers from the City Living expansion pack (if you have it, which we highly recommend you do), as they take up very little time (when you're working from home) so you can spend more time at the clinic, and they are also very well paid and it's much easier to get promoted (that will make your sim enough money to buy a good clinic)

OK, that's all for today's post, don't forget to check the blog every now and then for new ones!

How to become an omega master

(please read the whole post before you start your city)
Hi Sims Fans!
Well, as you probably already know, the SimCity's "Cities of Tomorow" expansion pack offers you the possibility of getting into the Omega world, by building OmegaCo factories.
Later on, you'll be able to expand OmegaCo into the drones market, if you have an OmegaCo Headquarters with a robotics division, but we'll get to that.
The first thing you need to do to start walking towards a high-tech Omega city is picking a place with lots of oil, ore and water (and coal if possible) because OmegaCo factories will certainly need those, and you'll want to spend the least you can in importing materials , at least when your Omega industry is still developing.
You should start off your city like any other: establishing the balance between residential, commercial and industrial and building infrastructures. I know you'll be exited with Omega, but do not get ahead of yourself, there is still a long way before build your first factory.
The next step is to get lots of population, in order to upgrade your city hall twice, and add a department of education and a department of utilities. Then, build a functional educating system with an university and public libraries (to increase your education level) and plop a recycling centre with alloy and plastic reclamation lines.
But what's all that for?
Well, in order to produce drones you'll need processors, and the processor factory is only unlocked if you have at least give medium/high-tech factories, and, as we all know, the factories' tech level depends on the education level, and having a university would help that a lot. Besides, who wants to have uneducated Sims?
As for the recycling centre, as you probably already guessed,  produces the necessary resources for the processor factory to work.
(You'll also want to plop a trading depot to store all your materials and import/export them if necessary)
Because OmegaCo factories require lots of power, you might want to build a nuclear/fusion power plant  (if you've already researched it at the Academy).
The next department that you need to build is the safety department, because you'll certainly want a hospital and a large fire station with all this pollution.
After all this preparing, we're finally ready to start with the Omega business!
Plop an ore mine and an oil well and the respective storage lots in the trade depot, because these are the resources that OmegaCo factories use.
For now you should be able to extract enough resources for your OmegaCo factories to work, but later on you will probably have to import them.
Now, plop an OmegaCo factory in an industrial zone and watch your city get owned by Omega!
(You can plop more OmegaCo factories, if you like)
Soon, your franchising profits will be enough to build an OmegaCo Headquarters and when you get to 12,500 simoleons in hourly profits you'll be able to upgrade your OmegaCo HQ and get a Robotics Division, and that will allow you to build drone assembly lines at your OmegaCo factories.
Unfortunately, drone assembly lines need processors to produce drones, so you'll have to plop a processor factory, and a processor storage lot in your trade depot. The good news are that,  because your recycling centre gives you all the alloy and plastic that you need to produce the processors, you won't need to import more resources or to get in the advanced drilling and mining business.
As you get more profit, you'll be able to expand the OmegaCo HQ with a commerce division and an extraction division to help your Omega industry to grow even more.
Well, that's it, I hope this post has helped you to build your Omega city!

TS4 "City Living" review

English Version
Hello Sims Fans!
As you know, it's been almost a month since the release of the "City Living" expansion pack for TS4 and we think it's time to do a review.
"City Living" is the successor of "Apartment Life" for TS2 and "Late Night" for TS3, but it is not behind the predecessors and still includes something new.
Part 1- Districts:
San Myshuno is a busy city, dividing into four districts. Each one offers a variety of different activities and unique spaces from the tall buildings to the wide squares.
The different areas of San Myshuno are "Spice Market", "Fashion District", "Uptown" and "Arts Quarter".
Spice Market has bright colours, an Indian flair and an older neighbourhood where Sims can enjoy various activities including the Spice Festival. In this district, there is a basketball field and there's also the possibility of doing graffiti paintings.
"Arts Quarter" is the most beautiful district of San Myshuno and has some features of the North American city of San Francisco. It has an art museum and it is where the "Lantern Festival" takes place.
"Uptown" is inspired by the Asian city of Shanghai. It has tall, futuristic buildings, a gym and is the perfect place to have an expensive stunning apartment.
"Fashion District" is somehow similar to "Uptown", presenting some characteristics of Tokyo. In this district, Sims can have fun in the karaoke bar, in the "Romance Festival" and in the "GeekCon".
Part 2- Apartments:
The apartments are the most important part of this expansion. Each apartment has it's one special style, whether you want cosy, luxurious or vintage, you'll always find the right apartment for your Sim. That's why each one provides a unique experience for you and your Sims. Of course, they have some inconveniences, and there are always boring neighbours, but that's part of life in a city!
Any Sim can give a key from his apartment to a friend so he can come in whenever he wants.
As your Sims succeeds at work and become richer, they can move to better apartments until they reach their dream Pent House where they can change everything and put all the walls down if they want!
Part 3 - Festivals:
The festivals are a very interesting part of San Myshuno. They are the ones who give life to the different districts and characterize them. There are five festivals: the "GeekCon", where you can test your Sims' hacking and video game capabilities; The "Humor & Hijinks Festival", where what matters is the fun; The "Spice Festival", where your Sims can take part in a spicy food challenge and try completely new dishes; The "Romance Festival", where the goal is to meet your Sim's life and find love, and finally, the "Flea Market", where your Sims can buy everything they need to decorate their apartment and still Exchange with other Sims!
In addition, your Sims can collect souvenirs from festivals, such as themed t-shirts.
Part 4 - Careers:
"City Living" adds three new careers to The Sims 4: Gastronomic Critic, Political and Social Media, in which your Sims can work from home (just like 5th Harmony), which means you do not have to say goodbye to your Sims when they go to work.
I hope this review has been useful to you, and goodbye Sims Fans, see you in the next post!

Hello Sims Fans!
Today I wanted to show you some building tips for TS4
Of course the lazy ones can always go upload themselves a house from the gallery, but those who want to fill New Crest with their own unique creations and can get some advice from here!

The first thing you should do is to choose, whenever possible, a 40x30 lot to build your house. Of course you'll need some motherlodes (who doesn't know what motherlodes are can search it in this blog. Even though the post is in the TS3 cathegory it also works with 4)

The first thing to do is to create the entrance hall, a square or rectangular room, which can have diagonal walls to cut the corners and mirrors, plants and furniture (that are found in the surfaces category) to decorate.

From the entrance hall there is a wide hallway leading to the living/dining room where you can find sofas, armchairs, a fireplace or even a fountain, a dining table, chairs, and a bar. On the other side of the corridor there may be a kitchen (with benches with whatever layout you like, a cook, a microwave, a kettle, a fridge ... and do not forget the bin and the fire alarm. After the kitchen you can make an office (with shelves, desks, computers, and if you like, a chess or cards table) and a bathroom (do not forget the toilet paper, toothbrushes, soaps, towels, etc. )

Finally, the end of the hallway can be open or finished in an arch door, which leads to a room where you have stairs and where you can put a piano and some armchairs/sofas and some pictures to decorate.

Upstairs, you'll obviously want to have the bedrooms. Make a spacious, suite-like room in the shape of an L for the parents, with a balcony if possible. Don't forget to have a wlak-in closet with chests of drawers and mirrors. The children's bedrooms can have dolls and a TV, and do not forget to build a main bathroom.
My final tip is to make open corridors and to have the stairs lead to a kind of upstairs entrance hall with access to all rooms (except for the master bathroom, of course).
I hope these tips have been useful to you. Promise to write soon enough!

The Sims 4: "Get to Work" Primeiras impressões
